Mesaba Negotiation Update - May 22, 2003

 

The AMFA Negotiating Committee met with the Company in MSP on May 20th, 21st, and 22nd. Present for the Company were Roger Hrdina, Patrick Robinson, and Cynthia Surrisi. Present for AMFA were Terry Harvey, Neil Hesselgrave, Russ Droke, Jim Schafer, and Jerry Howard.

The group set up tentative dates for future meetings which were

June 17th-19th		Sept. 9th-11th
July 7th-9th		Oct. 28th-30th
Aug. 12th-14th

AMFA requested at the first meeting that we move negotiations around to the different Mesaba bases but the Company informed us today that they would not be able to meet those demands. They cited cost and time away from the Company as main reasons. We asked the Company to provide positive space passes for our members to attend negotiations in MSP if the Company continues to refuse to negotiate at other stations. They are checking on it as of now. We did agree to negotiate on June 17-19 in MSP.

The Company presented us with a complete full text counter proposal at the commencement of this negotiating session. That proposal is available on the AMFA National website. We exchanged counter-proposals throughout this week on Articles 15, 16, and 21. When negotiations recommence in June AMFA will be presenting the Company with a counter to Article 16 and 21, and Mesaba will present a counter-proposal to Article 15.
