 Primary Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for the overall safe, timely and effective operation of their bus, which involves pre- and post-trip inspections, a defensive driving style and knowledge and adherence to the routes and schedules.

·         Responsible for monitoring the internal and external environment of the bus, utilizing fare tools, anticipating and mediating rider issues and providing excellent customer service. 

·         Checks for and maintains safety of the bus in varying traffic and road conditions.

 Training & Experience Requirements:

·         Minimum of 18 years of age and an active licensed driver for the last two (2) years

·         Minimum two (2) years of previous full time equivalent work experience

·         Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate clearly in English  

 Candidates Must have:

·         Valid Minnesota driver’s license

·         Verifiable work history

·         Four (4) Commercial Driver License (CDL) Endorsements: General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Pre-Trip and Passenger Transport or possess a valid CDL-endorsed driver’s license

o        More than 2 moving violations in the past twenty four (24) months

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Repair vehicles and equipment – diagnose, inspect, repair, replace, rebuild and adjust various systems and components;
  • Perform inspections on buses, vehicles and equipment.  Grease, change oil, filters and other fluids as part of inspection process using grease guns, fluid dispensers, torque wrenches, etc;
  • Perform bus changes/service calls, tow buses with service truck on service calls;
  • weld, fabricate, cut metal, wood and other materials to repair vehicles and equipment;
  • Clean work areas, buses and equipment using power sweepers & scrubbers, pressure washers, chemicals, soap, and floor dry;
  • Miscellaneous shop work (fuel/clean/sweep buses, direct traffic, empty trash, fill windshield wash buckets, markup, drive forklift, move recycling bins, measure fluid tanks using a dip stick, move buses, drive buses through wash racks, etc.);
  • Operates a forklift when request, and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Training & Experience Requirements:

·         Graduate of a two year vocational school program in diesel mechanics OR high school diploma/GED and 2 years of full time vehicle diagnostic/repair experience as a mechanic

  • Experience driving buses, diesel trucks and other heavy-duty equipment

 License/Certification

  • Valid drivers’ license and good driving record consistent with Metro Transit’s  Bus Operator Vehicle Records Standards (see below) 
  • Class “A” commercial driver’s license or permit with Combination Vehicle, Air Brake, General Knowledge, pre-trip and Passenger Endorsements on first date of hire. 

            Motor Vehicle Record Standards – Disqualification for any of the following charges:

            1.         More than 1 moving violation in the past 12 months

            2.         More than 2 moving violations in the past 24 months

            3.         Within the past three years CANNOT have any of the following charges:

A company in Shakopee is looking for a 2nd shift position paying $22.00.  This individual would be setting up a Swiss Lathe machine and deal with a Tsugami CNC lathe utilizing Fanuc controls. 

A company in Bloomington is looking for a 1st and 2nd shift position with 1-3 years experience as a CNC machinist.  Will be doing lots of lathe work.  This company requires someone used to work with tight tolerances.  They pay $18-22 DOE.

It is a unionized plant.The successful candidate will be capable of reading ISOS’s and P&ID’s to layout work to perform arc welding, acetylene cutting, and air arc and brazing. Possession of a Minnesota State Steam Fitter Journeyman’s license is preferred. Approximately 80% of the work performed is outside. Candidates must be able to pass a Marathon welding qualification test. The test will cover two-inch schedule 160 in a 6G position, 6010 root, and 7018 fill and cap. Radiography read to ASME section 9 QW-191.2.2 will determine test results.
